Currently, Juan Carlos is a member of SALIS, Substance Abuse Librarians and Information Specialists Association and REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking, where he performs outreach activities. From 1998 to the beginning of 2001 he was a Volunteer Tutor for Latino kids at the Latino Student Fund program.
