Give beyond the giving tuesday moment. give more sustainably and for greater impact.

December 3rd was Giving Tuesday yet, we know that the incredible front line work to protect our communities happens every day.
The end of the year is always a high energy time for donations from Giving Tuesday to holiday end of year campaigns. This year, we call on all of us to reflect on the ways we donate money to support more sustainably the efforts we believe in that are building a better world–an equitable and just world that is free of oppression and protects health for all.
Here are some key thoughts we suggest to follow and encourage to continue the conversation on:
Fund building community power. Donate to community-led organizations that have a history of organizing to shift power by developing a base of local leaders, creating tangible successes for health and justice in their local communities.
Fund community wisdom and solutions. Donate to individuals and people that are directly impacted by systemic oppression; Black and brown people, youth, queer, trans & gender-non confirming people, people with disabilities, low-income/working class folks, immigrants, individuals and families impacted by the criminal justice system. They are the experts in dealing with a cumulative effects of oppression and inequality.
Fund for the long-run. One-off donations can be great, but to increase the impact of your gift consider becoming a monthly donor. Traditional funding mechanisms (e.g. foundations, government grants or wealthy donors) are often removed from communities and do not reflect local priorities, local wisdom, and local ways of making change. Your recurring donation–no matter how small–allows organizations to plan in advance; reduce the stressful labor of chasing $upport so they can get to work on the real issues impacting their communities.
For this year’s Giving Tuesday and through the end of the year, find a community-led effort that speaks to you and become a sustained partner in their work.
We are fortunate enough to have built a community with grassroots organizations throughout the country that have been fighting for a healthy and just world for us all, we can assure your donation will help move the needle at the local level in a manner that can be shared with others facing the same struggles.
