WEBINAR: The Praxis of Equity: Praxis Principles for the New Year

The Praxis Project has organized a set of Principles for Health Justice and Racial Equity to help guide our work in partnership with allies in order to center community interests in the design, promotion, and implementation of policies and initiatives that support justice and equity for everyone. As we enter 2021, it is the perfect opportunity to come together with partners in grassroots organizing and in philanthropy to reflect upon our practices and actions from this unprecedented year?

Join this webinar to discuss:

  • Praxis’ self-reflection of 2020

  • Indicators and examples: How to know when we see health equity in action

  • The Praxis Principles for Health Justice and Racial Equity self-assessment tool

CEUs: We are offering one Continuing Education Contact Hour for this webinar through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing for $15. If interested, please contact jenna@thepraxisproject.org.

Joy Yalba, Communications Director @ Khmer Girls in Action

Joy Yanga is a second generation Filipina- American raised in Los Angeles. She is a daughter of immigrants who sought political and economic relief when their homeland was governed by dictatorship and martial law.

Growing up in an intergenerational household with family members with diverse abilities set her foundations for advocacy. Such experiences gave her understanding and perspectives on health and economic barriers for women, low-income, immigrant and disabled communities of color.

Joy has worked with Khmer Girls in Action for nine years and currently oversees communications and the Integrated Voter Engagement program. In working alongside Southeast Asian women and youth of color in Long Beach, Joy has seen the powerful impacts of youth organizing on intergenerational healing, equitable systems change, and long-term investments in movement work.

Joy is an alumni of UC Santa Cruz with a B.A in American Studies. She enjoys learning, arts, culture, uplifting stories and creating space.
