Kourtney firmly believes in the power of communities and community organizing to combat intersecting systems of oppression at the heart of health inequities and build a healthier, more just world for everyone. Kourtney transitioned into her role as Program Assistant after completing her 2020 Health Justice Communications summer internship with Praxis. In her current role, Kourtney primarily supports communications and media operations to advance Praxis' mission and the work of Praxis' grassroots networks and partners. Kourtney holds a B.A. in Human Biology and Society and a minor in Asian American Studies from UCLA and will be pursuing a Ph.D. in Medical Sociology at UCSF in the fall. She draws on her student organizing experience with with Student Labor Advocacy Project at UCLA and the Los Angeles Tenants Union as well as her experience in research focused on racial/ethnic health inequities, particularly in the Asian American community. In her free time, you can find Kourtney drawing, reading, or hanging out with her cat.
