"Through this program I was able to learn a lot more about various social justice issues and am confident about speaking on them to other people. I hope to educate more people around my age to take part in social justice issues and to educate themselves on these important things in our society. I know how to better make change and a difference in our community by doing this program."

–ALYSA, 2020 YOUTH FELLOW

"The knowledge that there are spaces in the world where I know that I don't have to compromise my queerness to be accepted into APIDA spaces, or vice versa. I don't have to tolerate homophobia in APIDA communities, or racism in queer communities, just so I don't have to be alone. My communities might be hard to find, but they do exist, and now that I know that I won't settle for anything less. As someone who identifies as queer, nonbinary, and Japanese American, I have never existed in a space where all three of those identities are considered to be equally important and relevant to my life by those around me."

–HARUKA, 2020 SUMMER ORGANIZING FELLOW

“Being in the Civic Engagement track taught me more than any class at school. This hands-on experience really allowed me to understand what I was learning regarding civic engagement and why the work is so important.”
