Please join CA4Health, a program of the Public Health Institute and the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative, for a free virtual screening of the award-winning documentary El Susto. The documentary will be available to watch at your convenience, in English or Spanish, between August 6th and August 17th, followed by a panel discussion by Xavier Morales, Executive Director of the Praxis Project on August 18th at 10am.
CA4Health del Instituto de Salud Pública y la Iniciativa para la Obesidad Infantil del Condado de San Diego, te invitan al estreno virtual del documental “El Susto.” El documental estará disponible para que usted lo pueda ver a su conveniencia: en inglés o en español entre el 6 y el 17 de agosto. Posteriormente, habrá una mesa redonda el 18 de agosto a las 10:00 am.
El Susto is a documentary that uncovers the soda industry’s outsized influence in Mexico, its access driven by deep political ties, aggressive marketing campaigns and abuse of power. The film reveals the story of courageous public health advocates, medical professionals and community members and their fight for the well-being of their nation.
“El Susto” es un documental que revela los lazos políticos de la poderosa e influyente industria de los refrescos en México, sus campañas de mercadotecnia agresiva y su abuso de poder, mientras valientes defensores de la salud pública, profesionales médicos y comunidades realizan acciones para luchar por la salud de su nación.
A virtual panel discussion will be hosted on Wednesday, August 18th, 10am, to understand key takeaways and the relevance to the work being done in San Diego County and throughout California to advocate for the return of local control to tax sugary beverages. Panelists will include individuals supporting CA4Less Soda efforts.
Se organizará una mesa redonda virtual el miércoles 18 de agosto a las 10:00 am, para discutir el trabajo que se está realizando en el condado de San Diego y en todo el estado de California para abogar por el restablecimiento del control local para imponer impuestos a las bebidas azucaradas. After you register you will receive an email on August 6th with a link to the documentary, in English or Spanish based on your ticket type, as well as access to the panel discussion. Live interpretation will be provided in Spanish during the panel discussion.
