Measuring the Impact of Building Community Power for Health Justice Brief + Webinar recording
As we continue to fight for justice and look towards community-led solutions, we’re excited to share how organizers build power within their communities and how health professionals can build on and support those strategies. In the fall of 2017, The Praxis Project hosted five learning circles with some of the nation’s most impactful grassroots community organizers to engage in deep reflection and discussion about building and measuring power. Read the brief that stemmed from these discussions and hear from Chinese Progressive Association and the SouthWest Organizing Project on how they define and build power.
Recently passed by the House of Representatives, this legislation would, among other things, provide major improvements to unemployment insurance, paid family leave and paid sick days, nutrition assistance, includes support for immigrant families and aid to struggling state and local governments.
Tell Congress: Deliver a COVID-19 health and stimulus bill that actually works for immigrant families. It is critical that Congress pass legislation that eliminates barriers to health screenings and treatment in Medicaid, and supports basic needs for immigrant families
Borealis Philanthropy is offering funding up to $10,000 to Black-led community-based and constituency-led organizations as part of their Black-Led Movement Fund Rapid Response. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.Learn more >>
Circle for Justice Innovations is offering funding through their Strategic Opportunities Support Rapid Response Fund. SOS Grant ranges are between $2,500 to $5,000 to organizations responding to changing political landscapes and working to build collective power at critical junctures. Ends on December 31, 2020. Borealis Philanthropy’s Fund for Trans Generations, Destination Tomorrow’s TRANScend Community Impact Fund, and Third Wave Fund have launched the COVID-19 Collective Fund for Trans Communities to get financial resources to trans-led organizations and transgender, gender nonconforming, and non-binary communities who are organizing in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Grants can range for up to $10,000 or $20,000 for partnerships and coalitions. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.Learn more >>
